Palin Criticism – Sexist? Look at her defenders! A bunch of hypocrites

Remember back in the primaries? Yeah the conventions have been over less than two weeks but it seems like ancient history. We’ve been focused on Palin, pigs, lipstick, prevarication ad nauseum from the McCain Palin campaign, Wal-Mart moms, shooting wolves with high powered rifles from airplanes, a small town in the middle of Alaska, and those horrible elitist journalists from the East.

The McCain campaign sniffs that Mrs. Palin has been unfairly treated by the mainstream press (those elitists from the East) and that they are attacking her on her gender. Suddenly the Republicans are considerater of womens issues. Forget that the role of the press in a free society is precisely to dig into Mrs. Palin’s record and assess the truth from the myth.

God only knows that the Republicans are great at building myths. But in Greek mythology the tragic flaw is hubris. And maybe that will be their undoing.

But their changing posititions from everything from experience to sexism shift quicker than the Starship Enterprise shifting into warp drive. Remember those sexist comments in the primary campaign made about Hillary? They came from the mouths of people like Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.

In this world of the internet, do they no think that their hypocrisy will be exposed? As I have askesd before; are they that cynical, do they think the American voter is that stupid?

They seem to bank on imagery and personality over reailty and substance and on a society that doesn’t have the capacity to think beyond sound bites and talking points. One day they tell us something is black and the next- its white.

It would be funny if it weren’t so scary. Haven’t we had enough of the Republican spin machine? Are we tired of being treated like children with ADD? I hope so. I pray so. It’s only the future of our country that hangs in the balance.
