Did anyone happen to notice that it was NOT the entirety of the Roman Catholic Church (including myself, in case you're wondering) who was molesting children? Instead, it WAS some disgusting people who were also Catholic clergy. I'm not excusing their behavior, or the fact that, being priests, they should be held to a high standard of moral conduct, because they SHOULD be. I am saying, though, that I am had it with morons accusing the church of the fault of the few. How about this? In Arkansas, there are seven hundred thousand people, and four thousand of whom are sex offenders, giving a .6% sex offender minority. (http://www.swivel.com/data_columns/spreadsheet/2549530?value=AK+) Seeing as this is many times higher than that of the catholic church, should we condemn Arkansas for not doing all they can to put these people behind bars, which is completely within the states grasp, and is expected of it? I hope I speak for a large majority of citizens on each side when I say that the American system is the best the world has ever known, no doubt it has faults, faults which need to be addressed. But these are merely reforms which need to be made to the existing system. People are afraid of the words "remake America", and rightly should be. I think what most people are afraid of is not just change in the sense of reform, its change in the sense of fundamental change.
